  • Gotye- somebody that i used to know is the basic interpretation of an abstract music video, adapted to form a message which mirrors its lyrics. As the protagonists are becoming more and more part of the artistic background and becoming more camoflauged, this represents the message of the song.. becoming distant and indifferent to a partner within a relationship. This video is based primarily using one shot which is a mid- shot however there are close ups now and again in order to offer another perspective.

Ok Go- Here it Goes Again

This is an example of one of the quirky abstract music production videos that i have been researching and analysing. The whole video is based on a simple and querky idea that is both enticing and engaging for the viewer. This is important when it comes to producing a music video as the audience should be able to either relate to it or become engaged by it. The music video follows the same alternative theme as the actual music itself, therefore running alongside it nicely with a simple and abstract idea which mirrors the bands music ethos.

The camerawork seen throughout this music video is extremely simple as the camera is static, only showing one shot during the whole video. This is effective as it focuses on the precise routine that actually constructs the video, which is the engaging aspect of it.
